3D Areola Tattooing

Mastectomy surgery for breast cancer can affect how you feel about your body and femininity. Even after undergoing breast reconstruction to restore the missing tissue, you may feel that something is inherently missing. SLMA Skin Bar Master Aesthetician, Meghan Mella, offers 3D nipple and areola tattooing for patients in Houma and the surrounding areas.

Also called 3D areola reconstruction, it is a non-surgical solution that can make post-surgery patients and trauma survivors feel whole again. The process of medical tattoo micropigmentation has been used and endorsed for years by plastic and cosmetic surgeons, oncologists and dermatologists.

3D AREOLA & NIPPLE TATTOO

Medical tattoo micro-pigmentation is a non-surgical procedure augmenting breast reconstruction by creating the illusion of a natural, three-dimensional areola and nipple. For women who have undergone mastectomies or may have irregular or fading areola’s, this complex intra-dermal pigmentation and 3D nipple restoration, helps women to recover physically and emotionally from the scars of breast cancer.

Depending upon unilateral or bilateral mastectomy, some women will only require one breast to be matched to natural areola and nipple. Some will require both breast to be treated.

BREAST RECONSTRUCTION

When mastectomy surgery for breast cancer takes away your natural breast tissue, a reconstruction procedure re-creates the shape and appearance of a natural breast. It is important to have a consultation with a plastic surgeon so you can be educated about your reconstructive options.

Plastic surgeons usually offer several forms of breast reconstruction, including breast implants and tissue expanders. Autologous reconstruction also uses tissue from other areas of the body to rebuild the breast. Breast nipple tattoos after mastectomy are usually the last phases of reconstruction.

WHO SHOULD GET 3D NIPPLE AND AREALA TATTOOING

Although not every woman decides to get nipple tattooing, most breast cancer patients are candidates for this restorative treatment. During your assessment, we can examine your skin quality to make sure this procedure is safe for you. Most of our clients find that tattooing is preferable to invasive nipple reconstruction surgery because it requires little to no downtime at all.

MEDICAL TATTOOING

Medical tattoos help to camouflage scars, burns, birthmarks and other skin imperfections resulting from surgeries and injuries.

Micro-pigmentation can also be used to break up scar tissue and restore skin color for a more natural appearance.

Permanent cosmetics can disguise scars and discolorations from cleft palate, birthmarks, bon-pigmented age spots and cosmetic surgeries
including face lifts and tummy tucks
